Straide, the first in Ireland

Congratulations to Straide NS who in conjunction with the Michael Davitt Museum designed and was awarded the first ever Michael Davitt Social Justice Flag. The flag is now seeking aceditation from the Department of Education and may be rolled out to all the schools in Ireland. The flag was raised by Councillor Martin McLoughlin who had supported to project greatly.

The official opening of our new set down and yard facilities took place and was attended by local councillors, past pupils and members of the Straide Community.

Also on the day the pupils were awarded their runners-up medals for theDevelopment Hurling Mini-7s by past pupils Mark Fahy (Mayo Minor - Hurling) and Sean Reid ((Mayo Minor- Football). The school raised it s 7th Green Flag, Golobal Citizenship Energy. It was a lovely day for our svhool and all our wider community and all we're treated to true Straide hospitality.
